TEASER

Kal's temple.

KAL (voice-over)
What do you want Ares?

Inside.

ARES
I gotta tell you Kal, this place is shabbier than I
remember it. It's gotta be tough when those tributes
stop comin' in. But I digress. So let's just cut the
crap and while you're at it, you stop tryin' to snatch
Xena. Force doesn't work with her. Never has,
never will. So, uh...stop it.

KAL
And clear the field for you. Nice try.

ARES
Are you still mad about me stealing the dark
chakram? That was years ago!

KAL
If you hadn't, then none of this would have happened.
Xena teaming up with Eli.

ARES
Eli. He's a sanctimonious stooge.

KAL
Who raised the dead.

ARES
Raised the dead. A mere parlor trick.

KAL
And isn't that what really brought you here? The
feel of that force working through him.

ARES
No, I think we both know why I'm here. So you
take my advice. Back off.

Ares disappears.

Chakram temple.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside the temple. Kalib steps forward, but stops.

KAL
Fear, Brother Kalib? Surely a holy man like you
is pure enough to meet the challenge. Or would
you rather die where you stand?

Kal's man shoves Kalib who enters the temple.

Inside the temple. There's skeletons everywhere. Kalib picks up the chakram of light from the white side of the yin yang altar and bursts into flames. The chakram falls back on the yin yang altar. The black side is empty.

Another temple.

Inside. Gabrielle is wrapped in a blanket and Xena drinks some soup. Joxer moves over to them.

JOXER
I'm really glad you guys, um...I can't believe you're here.

Joxer hands Gabrielle the bowl.

GABRIELLE
Thank you, Joxer.

JOXER
I'll get you some food.

Amarice enters and puts a blanket around Xena.

AMARICE
I've got something for you.

Amarice leaves and comes back with Xena's broken chakram.

AMARICE
Look, I saved 'em for you. I was hoping it could
be fixed. You think?

XENA
Okay.

Xena takes the pieces.

JOXER
Come on, Amarice. Come on.

Joxer and Amarice leave.

GABRIELLE
We're back. Together?

XENA
Always.

GABRIELLE
Are you okay?

Xena stands.

XENA
Oh, yeah. Just a little stiff. You know, I feel like
I've misplaced something.

GABRIELLE
Your clothes? I think we need to find a market.

Xena looks at the chakram.

GABRIELLE
I don't know how we'll repair that Xena. It's not
something you can take to a blacksmith.

XENA
Oh, this thing Amarice gave me? What is this
thing, anyway?

Xena holds up the chakram.

ACT ONE

Xena looks at the chakram.

GABRIELLE
You're kidding me.

She stands.

GABRIELLE Xena th--that's your chakram.

XENA
Well, it's very sharp. Could be dangerous.

GABRIELLE
You don't remember it at all?

XENA
Should I? Listen, I'm a bit hazy on everything
right now. Let's just try to get warm, huh?

Xena moves off.

Town.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joxer looks at some birds and whistles. He sees Gabrielle step out of a shop and gives another whistle. Gabrielle is dressed in a brown and orange, two-piece leather outfit. She carries a sai in each hand. She walks over to Xena who is in a red dress. Xena is looking at herself in a mirror and smiling.

GABRIELLE
What do you think? You like 'em?

Gabrielle holds up the sais.

XENA
Well if that's what you want, you'd better ask Joxer.
He's the only one with any money.

JOXER
(to a vendor) That's the biggest banana I have ever seen.

XENA
I'm kind of surprised, though. Don't you need
some scrolls or something?

AMARICE
They're not for her. They're for you.

XENA
Me? Why?

JOXER
What's a warrior without a weapon?

XENA
Is that a riddle? Hang on, I love riddles? "What
is a warrior without a weapon?"

GUARD
Easy pickin's.

Joxer is knocked out. Amarice and Gabrielle fight Kal's soldiers.

GABRIELLE
Xena!

A soldier runs at Xena and punches her. She falls to the ground. She looks shocked. A warrior moves up behind her. Gabrielle is confused. Gabrielle and Amarice are surrounded. Kal's warrior enters. Joxer gets up.

JOXER
Uh!

Joxer runs at the soldiers, knocking them down.

GABRIELLE
Joxer, help Xena!

Gabrielle and Amarice fight the soldiers. Joxer moves to Xena.

JOXER
Come on.

He helps her up. Gabrielle attacks Kal's warrior, but he sends her flying back. Amarice attacks him, but he knocks her back as well.

GABRIELLE
Let's go! Come on!

They run off.

GUARD
Get them!

Xena pulls a lever and a gate comes down between them and Kal's soldiers.

GUARD
It's not over, Xena! Kal will have you!

GABRIELLE
Run, Xena, run! Come on!

They run off.

Temple.

Eli waits. Joxer, Xena, Gabrielle and Amarice enter.

GABRIELLE
Xena, what is wrong with you?

XENA
Don't worry about me. Joxer got hurt worse than I did.

Xena looks at the top of Joxer's head.

GABRIELLE
I'm talking about you. This look? No weapons.
Why didn't you fight?

XENA
Fight?

AMARICE
You didn't even defend yourself.

XENA
So?

AMARICE
So, you usually pulverize guys like that.

Gabrielle moves to Eli.

GABRIELLE
(whispers) There's something wrong with Xena.

Eli and Gabrielle move over to Xena.

XENA
(to Joxer) You're gonna be all right.

GABRIELLE
Xena, think about when you fought Callisto.
Alti? Caesar?

XENA
Who?

ELI
Xena, listen to me. Do you remember anything
violent about yourself or about us?

XENA
Violent?

JOXER
Yeah, you know? Like, uh, you and I fighting evil,
shoulder to shoulder?

ELI
You mean you don't remember your death or
how you died?

XENA
Some of my memories are a little fuzzy but my
death? Come on.

GABRIELLE
Xena it's not your memory. It's--it's like you've
lost your-

AMARICE
Fire. Edge.

JOXER
Marbles.

GABRIELLE
Yourself. Don't you feel that?

XENA
I feel...empty.

ELI
I can't believe the power that brought you two
back would make a mistake, unless it was me.
Unless I did something wrong.

GABRIELLE
Eli it's not your fault.

AMARICE
Maybe it has something to do with the guards
that jumped us in the marketplace.

ELI
What guards?

JOXER
Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. They said something about,
uh, Kylie, Keely.

XENA
Kal.

JOXER
Kal.

ELI
Kal's the God of War in this region. If there's a
bigger picture, you can bet he's part of it.

GABRIELLE
One thing's for certain they don't give up easily.

Gabrielle looks out the window to see the soldiers heading towards them.

XENA
What do we do next?

ELI
I don't know but I know someone who might.
Come on.

GABRIELLE
Where are we going?

ELI
To see an old friend of mine.

They leave. Ares appears and watches them leave.

They walk through the woods.

XENA
Eli who's this guy that we're going to see?

ELI
Kalib. He's one of my dearest friends. We studied
ancient scriptures together before I went to India.

GABRIELLE
So he's a scholar.

AMARICE
How's a guy like this supposed to help us fight
a god?

ELI
Knowledge is power Amarice. I'm sure there's
something in his ancient texts that'll explain all this.

GABRIELLE
Well we should pick up the pace then.

Xena and Gabrielle run off.

JOXER
Eli, um, can I ask you something?

ELI
Fire away.

Amarice moves to catch up with Xena and Gabrielle.

JOXER
Look, um, I know that Gabrielle thinks a lot of you
and--and I think a lot about her. The trouble is,
she keeps dying before I can tell her but I was
hoping that with your teachings of love and
understanding, you could help me tell her.

ELI
Tell her what?

JOXER
That I love her.

ELI
You don't need my help. Just speak from your heart.

JOXER
No. No, no. No, no. Look. You're--you're Eli. You're,
you know, 'guru,' love guy. Do you have a poem
or like a parable?

ELI
Listen Joxer.

JOXER
Maybe I could give her-

ELI
Joxer, just listen. Just keep it simple and she'll
understand. Love is the most powerful force
on Earth.

Camp. Xena plays with the sai.

XENA
Living with me must have been a nightmare for you.

Gabrielle takes the sai.

GABRIELLE
You had your moments.

XENA
Why did I have to kill them?

GABRIELLE
Xena, in order to save the girls, you had to get rid
of the slavers.

XENA
It's unbelievable. Hey Joxer, come here. Tell me
some more about that time that you saved me
from that woman. What was her name?

JOXER
Oh, Callisto? Well-

Gabrielle clears her throat.

JOXER
Actually it was more of a team effort. Look, Xena,
you want great stories about yourself, talk to Eli.
He's your man.

ELI
I've tried. She doesn't believe me.

XENA
Eli I know that you believe those stories but me
fighting demons? Come on.

ELI
See what I mean?

Amarice starts to leave.

ELI
Amarice you can fill Xena in on some details,
can't you?

AMARICE
I would but I'm going hunting.

ELI
Oh, even better. (to Xena) You're a great tracker.

AMARICE
I move faster on my own.

XENA
Wanna bet?

Amarice turns away from Xena and suddenly Xena is standing in front of her.

XENA
Boo!

AMARICE
Stop it! You're not a child! You're a warrior! When
are you gonna remember that and start acting normal?

Xena frowns and Amarice leaves.

XENA
I hope your friend Caleb can deliver. Hey Amarice
wait up!

Xena follows her. Joxer has left the camp too. Gabrielle sits across from Eli.

ELI
What is it Gabrielle?

Gabrielle sighs.

GABRIELLE
Before Xena and I died I realized that my path is
not the same as yours. I tried but the Way of Love
is not for me.

ELI
I know. I see that now.

GABRIELLE
It's ironic. Right now Xena is everything that I always
wanted her to be but without her dark side she's...lost
she's--she's off-balance. My path is with Xena, helping
her however I can. I'll do whatever I have to do
to protect her.

Xena walks through the woods.

XENA
Amarice? Amarice?

Two of Kal's soldiers step out the bushes, holding Amarice and with a hand over her mouth.

AMARICE
Let go of me.

Kal steps out from behind Xena.

KAL
Hello, Xena.

AMARICE
Kill him.

Xena is confused. Amarice fights the soldiers. Kal and his warrior watch, impressed. Amarice runs at Kal, but Kal's warrior punches her and sends her flying into a tree. He draws a blade and moves over to her. Xena runs and stands in front of Amarice.

XENA
No!

Kal's warrior holds the dagger over Xena.

END OF ACT ONE



ACT TWO

Kal's warrior draws a dagger. Xena runs to stand in front of Amarice.

XENA
No!

Kal's warrior holds the dagger over Xena. He starts to bring it down, but Kal grabs his arm.

KAL
Come quietly and no harm will come to your friend.

Xena moves away from Amarice. She walks past Kal's warrior who growls. Kal follows. Amarice draws a dagger and runs at Kal, but he looks back and blows her into a tree. She lands hard and passes out.

Night. Gabrielle is looking for Xena.

GABRIELLE
Xena. Amarice?

Amarice groans. Gabrielle sees Amarice.

GABRIELLE
(whispers) By the gods.

Gabrielle moves to Amarice's side.

GABRIELLE
Are you all right?

AMARICE
Where's Xena?

GABRIELLE
I was going to ask you that.

AMARICE
She's not here?

Joxer runs in with Eli.

JOXER
Amarice are you okay?

ELI
What happened? Where's Xena?

AMARICE
Kal's got her. Him and his main muscle threatened
to kill me unless she went with him.

JOXER
Went where?

Gabrielle looks at tracks.

GABRIELLE
They went this way. Come on.

ELI
Let's go.

They leave. Ares appears and watches them.

Inside Kal's temple. Xena looks around. Xena is in manacles.

KAL
Bring back memories?

XENA
I don't know you.

KAL
You should. I was once on my way to becoming
the greatest war god of them all.

XENA
What do you want with me?

KAL
Let's just say I want you to stay as sweet as
you are 'til you get me what I want. Last one I
sent after it is probably toast. Purist monk in his
order, too.

XENA
I don't understand. What is it that you want
me to get?

ARES
Good question.

Ares stands behind Kal. He moves over to Xena.

ARES
Hello, Xena. What's a nice girl like you doing in
manacles like those?

Ares makes them fall off.

XENA
Thank you.

ARES
Not a problem.

Kal draws a sword and Ares gets an axe.

ARES
Unlike some people I could name. Oh Kal,
Kal, Kal, Kal, Kal, I thought we had an understanding.

Ares and Kal hit each other with their weapons. The force sends Xena flying back. Kal has an ax in his neck and Ares has a sword in his gut.

ARES
Uh-huh.

They move away and take the weapons out of themselves. They each draw their own swords and attack each other. Lightning flashes. Xena backs away. She sees a drawing of the chakram on the wall. She touches it.

Xena touches the picture, remembering. She leaves out a window. Ares and Kal continue fighting.

Outside. The group watches the flashing lightning.

AMARICE
Come on. They're probably killing her.

GABRIELLE
Amarice, if Kal wanted Xena dead he would have
killed her in the clearing.

ELI
She's right. He needs her alive.

JOXER
We need a plan.

GABRIELLE
I've got one.

Xena enters.

XENA
What's going on?

GABRIELLE
Xena what did he do to you?

XENA
Nothing. Nothing. I'm fine.

ELI
We need to get to Kalib's as soon as possible.
Come on.

They move off.

Kalib's home.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joxer enters the room everyone else is gathered in.

GABRIELLE
Did you find anything?

JOXER
No.

ELI
Something's wrong. Kalib's always here.

GABRIELLE
Well, maybe there's a cook or a servant?

ELI
No he likes doing things for himself. He's a real
ascetic. We always called him the purist monk
in his order.

XENA
Oh no.

GABRIELLE
What is it?

XENA
Something that Kal said.

ELI
About Kalib? What did he do with him?

XENA
I'm sorry Eli.

ELI
Xena, is Kalib dead?

Xena pauses.

XENA
I believe so. Yes.

GABRIELLE
It's such a terrible waste.

ELI
No it's not a waste. I won't let his death be a
waste. There's gotta be something in these
scrolls that explain all this! I'm gonna find it.

XENA
We'll help.

ELI
I won't know what I'm looking for until I see it.
Besides we've been on the run for two days. Go
get some rest. Please. I'll yell if I find something.

Eli sits and Xena and Gabrielle leave.

Joxer enters the bathroom. Joxer looks at the bath, but Xena is not there. He turns his back. Xena can be seen taking off her dress. She moves away. Joxer enters where the bath is again. He turns his back to it and Xena gets in. Joxer turns around and sees Xena. He quickly turns around again and draws the curtain behind him.

JOXER
Oh!

He stands with his back to Xena.

JOXER
Xena, hi. I'm really sorry. I'll come back later.

XENA
No, no, it's all right. Has Eli found something?

JOXER
No. No. Um, Xena you know how I feel about Gabrielle?

XENA
Sure, you love her.

JOXER
Right. Um and um, I was kinda hoping that since
you guys are such good friends and all that, you
could maybe give me some tips.

XENA
Tips?

JOXER
Yeah, you know, recommendations on--on how
I can tell her. I was thinking, uh, maybe I could
try the down on one knee approach or uh, maybe
flowers and--and uh, gifts or I could just club her
over the head. Do you see my problem?

XENA
Yeah, your expectations.

JOXER
Huh?

XENA
See right now it's all about getting a response
from her. If ya love her, why don't you just tell her?
Don't attach any strings to it. Make it unconditional.

JOXER
Yeah, but--but what if I...I tell her that and she says,
"Joxer, what are you thinking?"

XENA
Joxer, no strings. All right?

JOXER
No strings. Got it.

Joxer leaves.

XENA
Of course, you could just kiss the girl.

Xena chuckles. Ares enters.

ARES
Interesting offer.

XENA
I know you. You're the one who freed me from Kal.

ARES
Yes, I am.

Later. Ares stands behind Xena, rubbing her shoulders.

ARES
Relax. Yeah, that's good. Just let go. It's amazing
the difference when you don't resist me.

XENA
Amazing.

ARES
Open, free from old wounds, old grudges.

XENA
Very free.

ARES
And old ideas of right and wrong, good and bad,
they just don't get in the way.

XENA
Bad?

ARES
Oops. I forgot. 'Bad' doesn't ring a bell in you,
does it? Neither does 'wrong' or 'evil.'

Xena stands and faces him. Ares stares at her chest.

XENA
You know what's strange? I know those words.
I know their meaning, but somehow, they have
no connection-

She touches her chest.

XENA
-here.

Ares stares at her chest.

ARES
That's gotta be tough.

He looks her in the eye.

ARES
But trust me, it's for a reason.

XENA
That's what Eli says. But he doesn't know what
it is. Do you?

Ares looks at her chest.

ARES
Oh, yeah.

He looks her in the eye again.

ARES
It's all about you and me Xena. Not Kal, not even
Zeus. Just the two of us, bringing peace and order
to the world through force, something you and I
were destined to do together.

Ares moves to kiss her.

END OF ACT TWO



ACT THREE

Ares moves to kiss Xena.

GABRIELLE
Xena?

Ares stops and Gabrielle enters.

GABRIELLE
Eli f...Ares. You...

XENA
Oh you know each other?

GABRIELLE
Your hair is shorter, but you're still the same.
Only you would take advantage of Xena when
she's like this.

ARES
Like this? What do you mean? Because she
can't remember things that make her mad? Things
that fill her with hate? Well, when did you become
so hard?

Ares disappears. Gabrielle shakes her head. Xena looks upset and confused.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later.

JOXER
I still don't get it. What's Ares doing here?

AMARICE
Yeah. First Kal, then Ares. (to Xena) What is it
with you and war gods, anyway? (to all) Ares wants
something. So does Kal. What is it?

ELI
It's the same thing we need to get Xena back
completely. Chakram of light. Now according to
this only the purist soul can touch it without being
destroyed. It's also one of the few things on Earth
that can kill a god.

GABRIELLE
That's why Ares and Kal are involved. Whoever
gets the chakram can wipe out all the other
gods and make himself supreme.

JOXER
Yeah and we'd all be slaves.

XENA
Look, why don't we just leave it alone? Walk away?

AMARICE
Well, you'd never be normal.

ELI
Those gods would just keep trying until they got it.

They all look at Xena.

XENA
All right. Let's go for it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kal's temple.

KAL
So they think they've got it all worked out. How
do you know?

ARES
You'd be amazed at what a little undercover
work'll getcha.

KAL
Indulging yourself with a mortal like Xena is
hardly work. My guess is your attempts to use her
failed as miserably as my own.

Ares holds his sword on Kal.

KAL
Cut the dramatics Ares. If Xena gets hold of that
chakram, it could mean our lives. I say we call a
truce 'till we stop her.

Ares sheathes his sword.

ARES
Okay, no more tricks.

KAL
So they're going for the chakram. Well let 'em try.
We'll give them a reception they won't forget.

Kalib's place.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xena stands on a balcony. She holds up the pieces of the chakram.

XENA
I can make no sense of this.

She looks at the sky.

XENA
Whoever you are, whatever you are that brought
me back like this, I need to know why. I don't
know how I'm supposed to be but the others
say that I'm a warrior-

Gabrielle enters from behind Xena. She remains silent and listens.

XENA
-that I kill so that innocent people may live. They
want me back the way that I was. Do you? Is that
your plan? Send me a sign. How will I know what's
right unless you do?

GABRIELLE
Xena are you praying?

XENA
I can't help wondering if we're doing the right thing.
Restoring this darkness, my violence, can that
really be good?

GABRIELLE
I think it's vital. I know that sounds strange coming
from me. I think you have to know the darkest part
of yourself to be whole.

XENA
But this way, I harm no one.

GABRIELLE
But Xena what about the people who harm others?
Xena you have this balance of lightness and
darkness. Without both of those the very best
in you is defenseless.

Kal's soldiers surround the Chakram temple. Gabrielle and Amarice sneak in. Amarice walks on a tight rope, but Kal's warrior sees her shadow. He throws a dagger and cuts the rope. Amarice falls to the ground.

AMARICE
Who-o-o-o-o-oa!

They surround her.

GABRIELLE
Hey guys.

They turn to see Gabrielle who holds up a bomb. Amarice lights one since no one is looking at her. Gabrielle lights her bomb and Amarice stands. The soldiers yell and run. Amarice throws hers at the feet of Kal's warrior. It explodes and sends him flying. Gabrielle throws the other at the gates, which blow open. Joxer, Xena and Eli enter. Amarice and Gabrielle fight Kal's soldiers. Eli and Xena run to the temple. Joxer joins the fight. Xena runs into the temple.

Xena moves into the temple and over to the altar. She picks up the chakram of light and leaves.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gabrielle, Amarice and Joxer fight. The soldiers back up and Gabrielle, Amarice, Joxer and Eli stand on the steps leading into the temple. Ares and Kal step in front of the soldiers. Xena steps out, holding the chakram. She holds it up to throw it and Ares and Kal back up in fear.

XENA
Can't. I can't kill.

Xena drops the chakram.

END OF ACT THREE



ACT FOUR

Ares laughs.

GABRIELLE
Run!

KAL
Get 'em!

ELI
Come on!

Eli pulls Xena along and they all run into the temple. Amarice grabs the chakram on her way in and Gabrielle closes the door.

Inside.

GABRIELLE
Is everybody okay?

AMARICE
She's not. She's still not normal.

EXTRA
Around the back!

GABRIELLE
Back door. Joxer! Come on.

Gabrielle and Joxer run to the back door.

ELI
I don't understand it. The text is very specific
about...wait a minute, the chakram. Now that it's
off the altar, anybody could get their hands on it.

AMARICE
No, don't worry. I've got it.

Gabrielle and Joxer close and bolt the door.

ELI
Bring it over here. There's gotta be something
that I am missing.

JOXER
Gabrielle, um, I, uh--uh, can I talk to you for a minute?

GABRIELLE
Right now?

JOXER
Yes.

EXTRA
Hold on.

JOXER
I can't have you dying, again and not have you know.

GABRIELLE
Know what?

JOXER
Oh. Brother, I had this all worked out in my head
and now-

GABRIELLE
Please will you hurry? Please.

JOXER
I love you. I'm in love with you.

GABRIELLE
(whispers) I-

They can hear Ares yelling from outside.

ARES
Xena! Listen up! We've got a proposition for ya!
All we want is the chakram!

Outside.

ARES
You give us that, we're willing to let you and your
friends walk!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside the temple. They can hear Ares yelling.

ARES
What do you say?!

AMARICE
It's a trap.

ELI
If those gods of war get their hands on that chakram,
it's over, not just for us, but for people everywhere.

ARES
All right! How 'bout I sweeten the deal?!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside.

ARES
You give us the chakram, I will personally guarantee
your safety back to Greece!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside. They can hear Ares yelling.

ARES
I will even throw in your buddies for no extra charge!
Now, I can't stay fairer than that, can I?!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside.

ARES
(to Kal) All right.

Kal and his soldiers move.

ARES
(yelling) Your call Xena!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside. They can hear Ares yelling.

ARES
You can save your friends! Or you can sacrifice
them to a lost cause!

XENA
There's got to be a way that we can destroy
this thing.
ELI
No, but according to this text, if we join the two
chakrams together, the power to kill the god will
be diffused.

XENA
And it will be of no use to them.

Kal's soldiers work to break down the doors.

Outside. The soldiers use a battering ram on the door.

EXTRAS
Heave!

The soldiers enter. Xena puts the chakram of light back on the altar.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The soldiers use a battering ram on the back door.

Soldiers come in from the back door.

XENA
Amarice! Give me the broken chakram!

Amarice tosses Xena her bag. Amarice and Joxer fight the soldiers coming in from the back and Gabrielle takes on the ones coming in from the front. Xena puts the dark chakram on the altar and it is fixed in a bright light. Kal shoves Xena aside. Gabrielle moves in front of him and fights him. Ares comes in from the back and Eli stands in front of him.

ARES
Yeah, maybe later.

Ares moves to shove Eli out of the way, but when he touches him, he looks afraid. Ares lets go and backs off. Gabrielle fights Kal. He hits her and draws his sword. Xena grabs the chakram of light off of the altar and slices it across Kal's chest. He screams as he burns way into a pile of ash. Xena stands in shock over what she has done.

ARES
Xena? That wasn't your fault. He left you no choice.
Give me the chakram.

Xena is close to tears. She shakes her head.

ARES
Do you wanna kill me?

Xena shakes her head.

ARES
Come on. Just give me the chakram. The killing's
gotta stop somewhere. Let's make it here. You
know it's the right thing to do. Come on.

Xena picks up the dark chakram.

ARES
Xena, don't do this. Xena.

Xena holds the two chakrams together over her head.

ARES
Xena!

Lighting flashes and the two chakrams are merged. They become a single, silver chakram with a golden handle in the middle. Xena is back to normal.

ARES
Okay.

Xena throws the chakram, which knocks out several soldiers. Xena flips with a yell and catches the chakram.

GABRIELLE
Welcome back.

XENA
It's good to be back.

Gabrielle fights the soldiers and Xena fights Kal's warrior. She holds the chakram and it becomes two pieces. Xena fights Kal's warrior with them. Gabrielle fights the other soldiers.

JOXER
Amarice! Look out!

Amarice and Joxer fight the soldiers at the back entrance. Amarice is knocked down and then Gabrielle is.

GABRIELLE
Xena.

Xena digs the chakram pieces into Kal's warrior's shoulders and flips him over. He groans and falls to the ground. Xena throws the two pieces, one towards the back and one towards the front. The chakram knocks back all the soldiers. Xena gets a sword and stabs Kal's warrior. The chakram pieces join back together and Xena catches it.

EXTRA
Let's get out of here!

EXTRA
Run!

Xena flips with a yell and lands in front of Ares. She holds the chakram on Ares.

ARES
I don't get you. Why'd you do it?

XENA
Do what?

ARES
Neutralizing the chakram. Why'd you balance it?
You had the power to kill us all.

XENA
No one deserves that kind of power Ares, least
of all, me.

ARES
Smart move. Brought you back.

XENA
With a vengeance.

ARES
I'm gonna catch you around the Acropolis.

Ares disappears. Xena shakes her head.

Inside. Gabrielle hugs Eli.

GABRIELLE
This isn't goodbye.

ELI
It never will be. Are you sure you won't stay for
another day or two? I mean, after all, Greece is
a long way off.

XENA
The sooner we get started, the sooner we'll get
there. Of course you could always change your
mind and come with us.

ELI
I know, but...Kalib's scrolls can teach me a lot of
things I can't learn anywhere else.

XENA
Sounds awfully dull.

ELI
Compared to life with you anything is dull.

Xena chuckles.

XENA
Eli, um, you brought us back from the dead. And I'm-

ELI
Xena, it wasn't me. Ooh, at least not all me.

He hugs Xena.

ELI
Safe journey Xena.

XENA
Yeah, you too.

Eli leaves. Joxer moves over to Gabrielle.

JOXER
Hi. Um, Gabrielle-

GABRIELLE
Joxer-

JOXER
No, no, no, no. Look-

GABRIELLE
A--about what you said-

JOXER
No, no, no, no-

GABRIELLE
No, no-

JOXER
-it's all right.

GABRIELLE
-about what you said-

JOXER
It's okay. It's okay. It's just, you don't have to say
anything. You don't have to say anything. You
don't have to say a word. It's just I--I, um, I wanted
to, uh, just let you know.

He clears his throat.

JOXER
I just wanted to let you know. No strings.

Joxer leaves.

Amarice and Joxer walk and Xena and Gabrielle walk behind them.

GABRIELLE
It feels so good to be going home.

XENA
Going home in more ways than one. Thanks, Gabrielle.

GABRIELLE
For what?

XENA
For pointing the way back to my rotten old self.

GABRIELLE
It's a pleasure. Did I do that?

XENA
I didn't think about it at the time but when I asked for
a sign to show that I was doing the right thing...you
showed up.

GABRIELLE
Hmm, you know what they say? Timing is everything.

XENA
Yeah. Well not everything personally.
